Our next adventure led us to the mountains of Vermont for a stay at Basin Harbor Club, a fifth generation family run resort on the beautiful waters of Lake Champlain. On the first morning of our trip we enjoyed a breakfast buffet in the main lodge then made our way down to the docks, where we were greeted by the club’s two stunning golden retrievers, Piper and Rosie. The water was sparkling, and the beach lined with a fleet of Laser Performance Sunfish. We hoisted the mains, chose our favorite sail color, and glided out to the middle of the lake.

Upon returning to shore, we beached the Sunfish, de-rigged, and cooled off with a delicious drink prepared at the beachside bar. A little time spent under the hot sun and we were ready to get back on the water. One of the club’s owners, and his daughter Merle (the best unofficial host we could have ever asked for), took us out on their flawless 1930 mahogany triple cockpit Chris Craft with the fluffy golden retrievers riding shotgun. The rest of our crew followed behind in the Harbor Master’s spinnaker blue 1956 Sea Skiff. The two antique boats took us across the lake to the New York State shore, where we cruised alongside 200 foot cliffs surrounded by beautiful views of the Adirondack Mountains.
